Isaan spent a long time pouring over reports in his office at the tower, locked up inside with only Liandri for social contact unless someone took the time to check on him, which people admittedly rarely did. Most of the reports weren’t important enough to warrant his direct attention so he delegated them among the unit commanders to investigate, but today one of them jumped out at him in particular. Something about a large number of coma victims, all of whom were repeating the same phrase over and over at somewhere called the College of Lendorn.
After some digging through the books left over from the previous occupants of the tower, he’d discovered that this college was where the humans trained their wizards, practitioners of the magical arts. He also discovered that they had not long ago begun to take in non-humans as students too, a true multicultural establishment on the planet, the first he’d come across in fact. Colour him intrigued, both about the report itself and about the college, but he didn’t think this really needed a full unit.
Fortunately, Isaan had two rather new cadets who had not partaken in any real field work yet, the perfect opportunity for a trip out of the tower and some experience in their new line of work for Corinthius and Sundavar. He stepped out of his office, walked down the steps of the tower and made his way to find the pair, who were fortunately currently conversing with one another. He walked into the room with a smile on his face that said he was up to something, but it wasn’t like they could do anything about it, or had any reason to believe it would do them harm.
Not directly anyway. What happened on the job was a different matter.
“There you both are!” He said, sounding rather cheerful.
“Shall we go on a trip?”Before they could answer he placed a hand on their arms, and suddenly they would all vanish in a mass teleportation, coming back out on a winding path leading through the forest and up the side of a rock hillside where atop it sat the college itself with the city of Lendorn and its tall spires looming in the background. He turned and looked at Corinthius and Sundavar, who had to be rather disorientated to begin with having been teleported halfway across the planet without any actual warning, but Isaan didn’t seem remotely put off as he grinned at the pair of them rather cheerfully - excitedly even you could say.
“Both of you being human,” he paused, peering at Sundavar,
“...ish, you must both know what this place is. But! It’s my first time here, so no spoilers, let’s go!”Without waiting for them he began on his way up the road, humming cheerfully until they came to the large gates to the college where two guards stood watch, both of them were wizards in their own right judging by their attire and the fact they carried wands on their belts as well as swords - well trained guards you had to imagine. One of them raised a hand when they approached, Isaan was dressed in his usual maroon shirt, black trousers and shoes but oddly he looked rather at home with the wizards, not at all out of place. They certainly didn’t seem to find his attire odd, especially with all those pendants carrying different sigils on them around his neck.
“Halt!” The guard said, peering at the trio.
“Who are you?”Isaan started at him for a moment, seeming to be fighting the urge to make a specific remark, and judging by the impish grin that came to his face he’d lost the fight too.
“I’m a wizard, Harry!” He exclaimed jovially.
“How do you know my name?” The guard asked, surprised.
There was a moment of silence, and Isaan looked briefly as stunned as the guard is, looking at both Sundavar and Corinthius in turn.
“I honestly didn’t plan that.” He insisted, then looked back at the guard.
“We’re specialists, here about the coma patients, yes? Don't mind them, they're my bodyguards.”The man seemed to calm down, the news of the coma patients hadn’t been sent beyond the college, so it stood to reason if these three knew they’d been sent for specially. They nodded them past, the gates opening themselves and Isaan walked past, smiling at the guard named Harry in particular. Mouthing ‘Harry the wizard’ to him, and chuckling to himself as he proceeded into the college courtyard, the joke was one only he would get but he certainly found it funny whatever it was. He clapped his hands together and looked at the pair with him, grinning again.
“Right, field work, this should be fun.” He said, at least he certainly seemed enthusiastic about it.
